Responsibilities:
Accounting

- Complete day-to-day accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger maintenance.
- Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and nonprofit accounting standards (FASB, IRS regulations, etc.).
- Monitor financial policies, procedures, and internal controls.
- Assist in the preparation of the annual budget and track financial performance against budgeted goals.
- Support annual financial audits, including managing external auditors and preparing necessary documentation.
- Purchase order processing
Grant & Fund Accounting:

- Ensure proper tracking and reporting of restricted and unrestricted funds.
- Prepare and review grant financial reports, ensuring compliance with funding requirements.
- Assist in grant budgeting, and provide financial guidance for program managers and fundraising teams.
Compliance & Risk Management:

- Oversee financial compliance with grant agreements, donor restrictions, and funding agency regulations.
- Maintain adherence to nonprofit best practices and applicable federal and state laws.
Leadership & Team Management:

- Supervise and mentor accounting staff, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in financial processes.
- Collaborate with director to provide financial insights and support strategic decision-making.
- Develop and implement training programs for staff on financial policies and procedures.
Systems & Process Improvement:

- Optimize accounting systems and financial software to improve efficiency and accuracy.
- Identify opportunities for automation and process improvements.
- Implement best practices in financial management and reporting.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field (CPA or MBA preferred)
- Minimum of 4 to 7 years of accounting experience
- Strong knowledge of nonprofit accounting principles, including fund accounting and grant compliance
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks Online Advanced)
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- Detail-oriented with a high level of integrity and financial responsibility
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate across departments
- Experience with QuickBooks Online Advanced preferred.
- Proficiency in Excel preferred.
- Professional certification (e.g. CPA) preferred.
- Non-profit accounting experience preferred.
