One of the things that's so difficult with parenting is that you don't get a beta test. There's no trial run for this. It's almost impossible to prepare for every decision you will have to make that will have long-term implications on your kids' lives. In this way, it's easy to have regrets. We look back and think, "If I had to do it over, I would change things." Well, a few years ago, my wife and I took another stab at this parenting thing. It's not exactly a do-over; our biological kids are in their 20s, and there's no going back and changing their experience of us as their parents.
